Ignoring severe tooth decay or damage can compromise your oral health and lead to gum inflammation, pain, or tooth loss. With a dental crown, Dr. Jarvis can rejuvenate the function and vitality of an injured tooth. A crown, also known as a cap, fits over the tooth and covers the area above the gum line.

We use a crown in cases where a simple metal-free filling will not be durable enough for long-term, daily use. Dr. Jarvis will determine the type of crown you need based on the location of the tooth and degree of damage. Typically, we place all-ceramic, zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM), or gold crowns. White crowns are preferred for teeth that show in a smile. Typically, PFM or all-metal crowns are placed on back teeth, but we can use zirconia if you prefer an all-white, metal-free smile.

Plan on two visits to receive your crown. During the first appointment, Dr. Jarvis will prepare and disinfect the tooth, then secure a temporary crown. We will also take molds of the tooth for the dental lab to use as a blueprint for your final restoration. After the lab sends us your custom crown, you will return to our office so that Dr. Jarvis can cement the crown in place.

We'd love to make you smile. Contact our office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Jarvis and find out how a custom crown can give you the stunning smile you deserve. Located in Danville, we serve patients from San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, and the surrounding areas.
