Composite fillings offer several advantages to amalgam fillings. With composites, Dr. Jarvis can leave more healthy tooth structure intact during preparation for the filling. Tooth-colored fillings create an aesthetically pleasing repair, whereas metal fillings are dark and can stand out in your white smile. Also, metal fillings may leak or crack over time, composite fillings bond to the tooth and form a solid restoration that, Dr. Jarvis feels, is more reliable and durable.
We will fill your cavity in one appointment. Dr. Jarvis will remove the decayed area and clean the remaining tooth surface. Then, he will tint composite resin to match your tooth’s color and fill the cavity. A curing light hardens the metal-free filling, and we will polish the tooth to finish the process.
